Board of Selectmen Minutes 12/04/2006
Chairman  Mauceri called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Room 14 at Town Hall in the presence of members Mr. O’Leary, Mr. Harris, Mr. Veno, Mr. Dardeno and Town Administrator Mr. Balukonis.

MASS SCHOOL BUILDING AUTHORITY – STATEMENT OF INTEREST
Batchelder School
Mr. Chairman, I move to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest dated March 10, 2006 for the L.D. Batchelder School located at 175 Park Street which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority categories for which the Town of North Reading may be invited to apply to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future:  

Priority #1     Health and Safety Problems
Priority #2     Elimination of existing severe overcrowding
Priority #4     Prevention of severe overcrowding expected to result from increased enrollments
Priority #5     Replacement, renovation or modernization of the heating system to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs
Priority #7     Replacement / addition to obsolete building in order to provide for a full range of programs consistent with state and approved local requirements

And hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of
Interest, the Massachusetts School Building authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or any other funding commitment from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or commits the North Reading School District to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

Middle School
Mr. Chairman, I move to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest dated March, 2006 for North Reading Middle School located at 19 Sherman Road which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority categories for which the  Town of North Reading may be invited to apply to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future:  

Priority #1     Health and Safety Problems
Priority #2     Elimination of existing severe overcrowding
Priority #4     Prevention of severe overcrowding expected to result from increased enrollments
Priority #5     Replacement, renovation or modernization of the heating system to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs
Priority #7     Replacement / addition to obsolete building in order to provide for a full range of programs consistent with state and approved local requirements



And hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of

High School
Mr. Chairman, I move to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest dated March, 2006 for North Reading High School located at 191 Park Street which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority categories for which the Town of North Reading may be invited to apply to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future:  

Priority #1     Health and Safety Problems
Priority #2     Elimination of existing severe overcrowding
Priority #3     Prevention of the loss of accreditation
Priority #4     Prevention of severe overcrowding expected to result from increased enrollments
Priority #5     Replacement, renovation or modernization of the heating system to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs
Priority #7     Replacement / addition to obsolete building in order to provide for a full range of programs consistent with state and approved local requirements

And hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of
Interest, the Massachusetts School Building authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or any other funding commitment from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or commits the North Reading School District to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
